22 June 2023. — Finding Baan Sammi on the Open Street Map website is a bit tricky. The location of Baan Sammi is correctly marked on the map but is only displayed in the highest possible zoom level 19 (maximum enlarged view). You can only find Baan Sammi by just typing "Baan Sammi" in the search box. For example, entering "Baan Sammi Nature Retreat" or "Baan Sammi Nature Resort" will supply no results.
You can find on the map the names of all five main buildings that are part of the Baan Sammi property: Clerodendrum Chalet, Plumeria Bungalow, Lychee Lodge, Tai Saeng Chan Pavilion (Moonlight Pavilion), and Dillenia Bungalow. All these names are readable only at the highest zoom level.
In the side column where the search result is texted, the address is incorrectly displayed as "House Baan Sammi, 79-79/4 M. 6, ชม.2079, Ban San Ton Muang Nuea, Ban Fai Thong, Samran Rat, 50220, Thailand". 22 June 2023. — On HERE Map (HERE WeGo), the location of Baan Sammi is marked by a thick pin, but there is no location name associated with this pin, instead, the location name is displayed on the upper left side of the map. The map will be initially displayed at the moderate zoom level 15.
If you type simply "Baan Sammi" in the search box, you will get four location names displayed on the upper left side of the map as follows (the sequence of the names may vary):
1, "Baan Sammi …, Talat Khwan Muthi 2, Chiang Mai 50220, Thailand":
This pinned location is wrong as is the given address. Just ignore this result.
2, "Baan Sammi Nature Resort, Pa Lan, Muthi 6, Chiang Mai 50220":
The address is incomplete and thus hardly helpful, but the pin is correctly located (closest to the main entrance gate).
3, "Baan Sammi Nature Retreat, Pa Lan, Muthi 6, Chiang Mai 50220":
The address is incomplete and thus hardly helpful, but the pin is almost correctly located, although about 30 meters too far south from the main entrance gate.
4, "Ban Sammi …, Pa Lan, Muthi 6, Chiang Mai 50220":
This name is misspelled ("Ban" instead of "Baan"), the given address is not wrong but incomplete and thus useless, and the pin marks a location somewhere outside the property but southwards nearby.
In early January 2023, we sent a "Report a map error" to HERE Map, pointing out the errors and offering correct data, but no response has been received to date. The previous entries for Baan Sammi were marginally improved by HERE Map, but the superfluous entries were not deleted and kept with the previously wrong information.
Bing Maps — แผนที่ บิ้ง
On the current version of Bing Maps, the location of Baan Sammi is marked by a thick red pin, and it is named. You can find the location by simply typing either "Baan Sammi Nature Retreat" or even "Baan Sammi Nature Resort" in the search box, and, at the moderate zoom level 16, the location on the map is correctly displayed (on the main entrance gate of Baan Sammi).
MapCode — สถานที่ตั้ง อยู่ที่ แผนที่ MapCode
On MapCode, you can find the location of Baan Sammi as follows: Select context "Thailand" (THA), then enter the GPS Mapcode in Roman script: 5C6M.BK, or in Thai script: ๕ข๖ถ.กฑThe location is then marked by a pin on a map at a high zoom level. The location name (e.g., "Baan Sammi") is not given.
LONGDO Map — แผนที่ LONGDO
Until a few months ago, on the LONGDO Map, the location of Baan Sammi was marked with a pin and named "Baan Sammi Nature Retreat" and displayed at a high zoom level (this data from LONGDO is based on OpenStreetMap). One could find the location of Baan Sammi by simply typing “Baan Sammi Nature Retreat” in the search box. In addition, both the locations and the names (in English and Thai) of all Baan Sammi houses have been displayed on the map. Inexplicably, this has changed and Baan Sammi no longer appears on this map.
LONGDO Map offers the ability to switch between Thai or English language, therefore the maps are displayed in either Thai or English language, but not as a single bilingual map.
An advantage of LONGDO Map is that village names are provided on the map (in different zoom levels): in Thai script on the Thai map; romanized on the English map. Romanization seems to strictly follow the rules of the Royal Thai General System of Transcription (RTGS).
tomtom MyDrive — ตอมตอม ไมไดรฟ์
On tomtom MyDrive, the location of Baan Sammi is marked by a pin and named "Baan Sammi-Plumeria", or in Thai "บ้านแซมมี-พลุเมเรีย", and displayed at a high zoom level. You can find our location by simply typing "Baan Sammi-Plumeria" or the Thai equivalent in the search box.
The pin pretty much marks the main entrance gate of Baan Sammi, as the Plumeria Bungalow is right next to this gate.
An advantage of this map is that village names are provided on the map (in different zoom levels).
