Meeting Point 12 — Tesco-Lotus Department Store, Pa Daet (Hang Dong Highway)

1. You start in Chiang Mai near the Airport Plaza (photo) at the intersection 'Airport' (สี่แยกสนามบิน), which is where the Om Muang Highway (1141) crosses the Chiang Mai – Hang Dong Highway (108) (see Map: J3).
2. Head towards Hang Dong or Hot or Mae Hong Son onto Highway 108. Stay on this Highway for little more than one kilometer. — ไปทางหางดง
3. After that distance, just before a bridge for foot-passengers across the Highway (photo), you will see the exit for the car parking area in front of Tesco-Lotus department store.
4. Take this exit and enter the Tesco-Lotus car parking area. Ahead is the department store, with the main (left) customer entrance at its front. You have arrived at TESCO-LOTUS ON HANG DONG HIGHWAY (Meeting Point 12) (photo).

Meeting Points 10–11 — in San Sai Noi

Route: From Chiang Mai to San Sai Noi

1. You start in Chiang Mai at the intersection 'San Dek' (สี่แยกศาลเด็ก), which is where the Super Highway (11) crosses the Chiang Mai – Doi Saket - Chiang Rai Highway (118) (see Map: G5-G6).
2. Head towards Doi Saket or Chiang Rai onto Highway 118. Stay on this Highway for one or three kilometers. — ไปทางดอยสะเก็ด
3. After 1 kilometer, just 100 meters before the intersection with the inner bypass, you have arrived at the ESSO GASOLINE STATION (Meeting Point 10) (photo).
4. Pass by if you wish to head for the next meeting point. Cross the intersection ahead, pass by the market of San Sai Noi (left hand side) and the next T-section.
After 1 kilometer further, you will see on the left hand side Petronas gasoline station, and again, after 1 kilometer further, you have arrived at the SHELL GASOLINE STATION (Meeting Point 11) (photo).

Meeting Point 9 — Rim Ping Supermarket at Mae Chok Market, on the Way to Mae Cho

1. You start in Chiang Mai at the intersection 'Mae Cho' (สามแยกแม่โจ้), which is where the Chiang Mai - Mae Cho - Phrao Highway (1001) runs into the Super Highway (11) (see Map: G5).
2. Head towards Mae Cho or Phrao onto Highway 1001. Stay on this Highway for one and a half kilometers to reach the intersection with the inner bypass. — ไปทางแม่โจ้
3. At the intersection you will see ahead, beyond the bypass on the left hand side, a shopping area called Mi Chok Plaza or Mi Chok Market (ตลาดมีโชค). Cross the intersection and exit the Highway left for this market.
4. Follow the street and you will see, 100 meters off the Highway, on the left hand side a car parking area, and a major shopping hall (photo) with a branch of Bangkok Bank on its front.
5. You have arrived at RIMPING SUPERMARKET (MI CHOK BRANCH) (Meeting Point 9) (photo).

Meeting Point 7 — in Mae Rim

Route: From Chiang Mai to Mae Rim (Snake Farm)

1. You start in Chiang Mai City from the intersection of the Super Highway (11) with the Chiang Mai – Mae Rim Road (107: Chiang Mai – Mae Rim – Mae Taeng): Map G4.
2. Head towards Mae Rim, Mae Taeng, Chiang Dao, Fang, onto Highway 107. Stay on for 12 kilometers.
3. Enter Mae Rim (photo), stay on the Highway 107 straightforward throughout,
pass through the center of Mae Rim (where you will see a bridge for foot-passengers over the Highway) (photo), pass through the intersection ahead (which is equipped with traffic lights)
(photo), and leave the center onto the Highway after little more than 12 kilometers.
4. Having left the center of Mae Rim behind, you will see an exit sign-post ‘Samoeng’ and National Road
‘1096’ (photo).
5. Leave Highway 107 at this exit (turn left) onto National Road 1096; stay on for exactly 2.0 kilometers.
6. Slow down, just before the Road is gently bending
left (photo).
7. You will see on the right hand side, maybe not at the first sight, the Snake Farm with a big parking area at its front (photo). Exit the Road there, turn right to the parking lots.
8. You have arrived at the SNAKE FARM (Meeting Point 7) (photo).

Meeting Point 6 — Market in Doi Saket

1. You start in Chiang Mai City at the intersection 'San Dek', which is where the Super Highway (11) crosses the Chiang Mai – Doi Saket Road (118: Chiang Mai – Doi Saket – Chiang Rai): Map G5-G6.
2. Head towards Doi Saket or Chiang Rai onto Highway 118. Stay on for 14 kilometers.
3. After little more than 14 kilometers drive you will see an exit sign-post ‘Doi Saket’ and National Road ‘1014’ (photo).
4. Leave Highway 118 at this exit (turn right), entering the center of Doi
Saket, onto National Road 1014, stay on for 500 meters.
5. After 500 meters you will reach the only intersection with traffic lights (photo) in the busy center of Doi Saket.
6. Cross this intersection straightforward, stay on the street for 50 meters (the street heads towards and ends at the entrance to the monastery area of Wat Doi Saket) (photo).
7. You will see an entrance of the market on the right hand side, and the canal on the left hand side where you can find parking lots, a row of public telephone boxes, and some seats under tall trees along the canal.
8. You have arrived at the DOI SAKET MARKET (Meeting Point 6). Car parking is possible on both sides of the canal, and, more convenient, on the parking lots behind the entrance to Wat Doi Saket.

Meeting Points 1–5 — in Doi Saket

Route: From Chiang Mai to Baan Sammi

BS Route Map 2: Doi Saket − Meeting Points 1-5 and Route to Baan Sammi

The section numbers below correspond with the numbers shown in the BS Route Map 2 above.
1. Start the trip in Chiang Mai at the intersection 'San Dek' (สี่แยกศาลเด็ก). This is the intersection of the Super Highway (11) and the Chiang Mai – Doi Saket - Chiang Rai Highway (118).

2. Take Highway 118 towards Doi Saket or Chiang Rai. Stay on this Highway for several kilometers. — ไปทางดอยสะเก็ด
3. After 8 kilometers you will reach Bo Hin, a village which is easily recognized by its pedestrian bridge over the Highway (photo above, right side). Pass through the village, and after about 1 kilometer you will see, on the left side, a Cosmo Oil gasoline station and, 400 meters farther, a second Cosmo Oil gasoline station (photo above, right side). — ผ่าน บ. บ่อหิน
4. Pass by at the gasoline stations, then you will see, on the same side, an array of
traditional Thai houses within a huge area enclosed by a low wall (photo above), and, beside the Highway, the Horizon Tower (photo right side) with an advertising sign in Thai script and Roman script; the main text reads ทวีชล (Thawichon) and Horizon Village & Resort.
5. One hundred meters farther, you will reach the entrance of HORIZON VILLAGE & RESORT (Meeting Point 1) (photo below).

Just a few meters after the entrance on the side of the Highway, there is a car parking area in front of Wawee Coffee Shop (คาแฟวาวี) (photo right side) and, 50 meters ahead, a pavilion with a yellow roof.
6. Continue if you wish to head for the next meeting points. 100 meters ahead, you will see two road signs, บ. น้ำแพร่ (Ban Nam Phrae) and บ. ป่าดู่ (Ban Pa Du) (in black Thai script on white ground, the signs pointing to the right) (photo above, right side), and then cross a bridge over a small canal, คลองน้ำแพร่ (Klong Nam Phrae).
7. On the Highway, 500 m ahead, there is a U-turn (photo right side). This is the first U-turn after Horizon. Turn back at this U-turn and drive onto the Highway in reverse direction (to Chiang Mai), stay on for a few hundred meters. — ที่กลับรถแรก
8. You will see the road sign, บ. น้ำแพร่ (Ban Nam Phrae) (the sign pointing to the left) (photo right side), and, a few meters thereafter, the other road sign, บ. ป่าดู่ (Ban Pa Du).
9. You will reach the EXIT 'BAN NAM PHRAE' on Highway 118 (Meeting Point 2) (photo above), which connects a narrow country road on the left, just before the bridge. If you choose this exit as the meeting point, please, stop and wait next to it; the best spot to wait and to park a car is on the banquette of the Highway just some 15 meters before the exit.
10. Leave the Highway 118 at this exit (turn left) to continue. Follow the paved narrow country road, pass through the village, Ban Nam Phrae, and pass by at the monastery, Wat Nam Phrae (วัดน้ำแพร่) on the right side, 400 meters from the exit (photo above, right side).

Head towards the next village, Ban Pa Du. — ทางออกถนนไหญ่ที่ บ. น้ำแพร่ไป บ. ป่าดู่
11. Little less than 2 kilometers from the exit, or 400 meters before Ban Pa Du, the country road turns sharply left at a junction (photo above, right side). Don't go straight! Follow the country road!
12. Within the village, 600 meters after the left turn, the country road turns sharply right at a junction (photo right side), where a road sign points to directions of the next villages. Don't go straight! Follow the country road! — ผ่าน บ. ป่าดู่ ไปทาง บ. ป่าลาน
13. Just 100 meters after the right turn, you will see on the right side the monastery of Ban Pa Du: You have reached WAT SI PRA DU (Meeting Point 3) (photo right side).

14. Pass by at the monastery to continue. A few hundred meters farther, you will reach the next village, Ban Pa Lan (บ. ป่าลาน), indicated by a village sign (in black Thai script on white ground).
15. Stay on the country road for a further few hundred meters, then you will see a cremation area with a tower-like building on the left side (photo right side). Drive slowly!
16. Just behind this tower, turn left at the junction, which is almost invisible. — เลี้ยวซ้ายสามแยกทางไปวัดป่าลาน
17. Stay on for 150 meters, then you will see on the right side the monastery of Ban Pa Lan (วัดป่าลาน), hidden by a tall Bodhi tree (photo above). You have reached WAT PA LAN (Meeting Point 4).

18. Pass by at the monastery to continue. Just a few meters after the monastery, the country road turns sharply left, then sharply right. Stay on the country road, head towards the next village, Ban Pa Yang Poi (บ. ป่ายางปอย).
19. On half way to the village, at a slight S-curve, you can see a wooden village sign of Ban Pa Yang Poi on the left side (photo above, right side).
20. Stay on the country road for a few hundred meters, then you will enter the village where there is a second, metal village sign (in white Thai script on blue ground) for the same village on the right side (photo above, right side). Drive slowly! Dangerous T-junction ahead!
21. Turn left at this junction, then heading straight, and, after only a few meters, you will see a second T-junction (photo right side). Pass by at this junction, go straight and slow down! — เลี้ยวซ้ายสามแยก บ. ป่ายางปอย หนึ่ง้อยเมตรถึง บ้านแซมมี อยู่ข้างขวา
22. You will see on the right side, along the road and ditch, the typical wooden fence of the property, with the main entrance (photo above) of Baan Sammi, and a farther second entrance. You have arrived at BAAN SAMMI (Meeting Point 5).

Next to the main entrance gate you will see a wooden name-plate above the entrance door, and a wooden house number plate left side of the door (photo above, right side). Please, park your car or motorbike off the road, just on the driveway in front of the entrance gate, ring the bell, enter and go to the office on the right side.

1. Kreuzung Highway 11 mit Highway 118.
2. Auf Highway 118 in Richtung Doi Saket oder Chiang Rai.
3. Nach 8 km passiert man Bo Hin, einen Ort mit einer Fussgängerbrücke, danach passiert man eine Cosmo Oil Tankstelle.
4. Links erkennt man ein grosses Resort mit Häusern im traditionellen Thai-Stil, das Resort umgeben von einer niedrigen Mauer, an der Highway ein Turm mit der Aufschrift "Horizon".
5. Nach 100 m Eingang von HORIZON VILLAGE & RESORT (Treffpunkt 1), mit Parkplatz und Wawee Coffee Shop an der Highway.
6. Nach weiteren 100 m erkennt man 2 rechtsweisende Richtungsschilder in schwarzer Schrift in Thai auf weissem Grund, danach überquert man eine kurze Brücke.
7. Ein Verkehrsschild zeigt die nächte Wendemöglichkeit an, diese benutzen.
8. Man erkennt die gleichen Verkehrsschilder, diesmal linksweisend.
9. AUSFAHRT "BAN NAM PHRAE" (Treffpunkt 2).
10. Man nehme diese Ausfahrt, nach 400 m ein Kloster rechts.
11. Nach knapp 2 km scharfe Linkskurve.
12. Ort Ban Pa Du. Nach 600 m scharfe Rechtskurve (die geradeaus weiterführende Strasse ist untergeordnet).
13. 100 m rechts ein Kloster, WAT SRI PRA DU (Treffpunkt 3).
14. Weiter zum nächsten Ort, Ban Pa Lan.
15. Man erkennt links einen Turm eines Krematoriums.
16. Unmittelbar nach dem Turm eine Abzweigung nach links, diese nehmen.
17. 150 m rechts ein Kloster, WAT PA LAN (Treffpunkt 4).
18. Gleich nach dem Koster scharfe Links- und Rechtskurve.
19. Danach eine leichte Rechts- und Linkskurve mit Ortsschild (Ortsschild z.Z. fehlend).
20. Ortsschild rechts, weisse Schrift in Thai auf blauem Grund, danach Einmündung.
21. Links abbiegen, sogleich erkennt man eine einmündende Strasse von rechts, geradeaus weiter.
22. Unmittelbar nach der Einmündung erkennt man, hinter einem charakteristischen Holzzaun rechter Hand, BAAN SAMMI (Treffpunkt 5).
